Dhanush has been busy with the shoot of multiple projects over the last six months. This has been one of the main reasons why he hasn’t signed a new project in a long time. Having completed all of his pending projects and on the verge of wrapping up Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Dhanush is believed to have signed a new project with producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, who had recently bankrolled VIP 2.
If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Dhanush and Thanu will join hands for a new project later this year
Not long ago, reports emerged that producer Thanu had acquired the Tamil remake rights of Telugu film Needi Naadi Oke Katha and had plans to make it with Dhanush. In the film, Sree Vishnu plays an incapable son who can’t live up to the expectations of his father and the society. Without taking the commercial route, the film managed to make an impact thanks to its highly relatable story and earnest performances, especially by Sree Vishnu. While sources close to Dhanush have rubbished these reports, there’s still no official verification from either Dhanush or Thanu regarding the remake.
On the career front, as Dhanush currently awaits the release of Vada Chennai, Maari 2 and his maiden Hollywood film The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, he’s also gearing up for the shoot of his second directorial in which he will also play the lead.
The project is expected to roll from this summer. Besides, he’s expected to reunite with Ranjhanaa director Anand L Rai for his third Hindi outing later this year.
